Products FAQ

FIBC stands for “Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container”. They are all the more ordinarily known as Bulk Bags, Big Bags, Jumbo Bags. FIBC are big size bags used for transportation and storage of powders or flakes or other products which can freely flow. The dimensions of the bags can be customised according to the customer’s needs. The bags typically hold about 500 – 2000 KG of material. The use of FIBC makes the handling of material very easy as the filled bags can be put on pallets or can be lifted by forklifts through loops of the bags.
The most common material used in FIBC construction is 100% virgin polypropylene (petroleum based by-product)
FIBC are made from 100% polypropylene and can be recycled.
The safe working load (SWL) of a FIBC is the bag’s maximum safe carrying capacity. The SWL is expressed in kilograms or pounds, You must always check with the SWL factor to avoid worst situations like damage to the bag and the product sifting.
It is an industry-standard that means the FIBC bulk bag must handle five or six times its SWL. The standard way to write it is in ratio, i.e- (5:1 or 6:1 SF)

Most FIBCs are manufactured for one use/one trip. These single trip bags are rated at a 5:1 safety factor ratio (SFR), which means that they can hold up to five times the amount of their rated safe working load (SWL).
Some FIBCs are specifically manufactured for multiple use/multiple trip. These multiple trip bags are rated at a 6:1 safety factor ratio (SFR), which means they can hold up to six times their safe working load (SWL).

FIBC can come in any size that the customer requests. FIBC bags can be manufactured to any specific need that the customer may want depending on the type of product and machinery they are using to put their products into the FIBC. We can customize your bag to any size you request.
When determining the dimensions of a FIBCs, one should bear in mind that external and internal dimensions are not equal. The external dimension of a FIBCs is usually 4-5 cm larger than the internal dimension (e.g. If the external dimension is 95×95 cm, the internal dimension is 91×91 cm). The external dimension is measured from the beginning to the end of the fabric while the internal dimension is measured from seam to seam. Space which can be used for packing material is internal dimension.
Height dimension of an FIBC measured from the Bottom Seam to the top Seam; there is no standard FIBC height so it can range from 50 cm to 250 cm.
FIBC bags are the preferred transport options across industries the world over. Hence, based on client requirement customization options such as top opening, bottom opening, colors, logo printing, document pouches, liners, UV treatment, and many such options are available.
UVI abbreviation for Ultraviolet Inhibitor, which is an added substance that is added to the polypropylene resins during the extrusion process. It helps with shielding the FIBC from the debilitating impacts of UV beams, safeguarding them from losing their strength.
All textile have a fabrics weight and it is common in the FIBC industry to see fabric weights listed in both GSM and OZ. GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter while OZ stands for Ounces per Square Yard. Fabric GSM or OZ are directly proportional to the thickness of the fabric; As the value of gsm increases, the thickness increases as well.

Fabric which are coated/laminated with a protective polypropylene layer that reduces moisture intrusion or sifting of the product inside are called coated fabric or non-breathable or laminated fabric.

Coated bags do Not provide complete 100% waterproofing. For greater protection, consider bags equipped with liners.

The other one is called uncoated fabric or breathable or unlaminated fabric; these bags don’t have the polypropylene layer laminated on them.

The measure of the density of the fabric weave, measured as the number of yarns per inch in both the Warp and Weft directions

This refers to a portion of the fabric where the lift belt has been sewn directly into the fabric. This piece of the fabric will then have additional Warp yarns, which contributes to the strength of the bag. It is also called a Tramline.

Lift loops are a standard feature found on the majority of FIBC. Typically constructed from a durable woven polypropylene material, lift loops possess high tensile strength to withstand the weight and demands of lifting and transporting FIBCs.

It is a unit of measurement that expresses fibre thickness of individual threads used in a fabric. To be more specific it is the weight of the yarn in grams per 9000 meters. Also, it is considered that the higher the denier count, the more durable the fabric will be.

This acronym stands for multi-filament yarns, which are commonly used to weave lift belts and bias straps. They may be constructed from polyester threads or other materials.

A seam in an FIBC is the same as any other type of seam. It is the place where the edges of two or more pieces of fabric have been sewn together.

The transportation of finer materials through regular FIBC bags has a possibility of leakage and to prevent this; dustproof FIBC bags are the best.

There are different types of dustproof bags according to the customer requirements:

  • Single dustproof – These FIBC bags have single stitches and a single dustproof tape.
  • Double dustproof – Products which have high chances of sieving or leaking are kept inside this bag as it has two stitches and two dustproof tapes.
  • Triple dustproof – For extra safety of products, these FIBC bags have three sealing strips. This type involves sealing with two dustproof tapes and a third tape is put between the fabric.

Baffle are pieces of fabric or net that have been sewn across each corner of a four panel or circular bag to give it a more square appearance while also increasing the stability of the load and helping maximize space in large shipping areas.

Of course! Bags can be easily printed to your needs. Usually the printing is on the side panels of the bag. Customized printing possible up to 4 sides / 4 colors.

Absolutely! Our bulk bags can be customized into a variety of different colors and any of your choice.

FIBC are usually equipped with a document pocket which allows to attach informative documents and labels about the filled product.

B-lock is an accessory of the bag which helps in regulating the flow of product while it is being discharged manually through the discharge spout.

Velcro are straps used for proper closing of the bags. These are strong, lightweight, easy to adjust and secures the content inside the bag. It is used for the fastening purpose.

A perimeter band is a band sewn around the outside perimeter of the top of a bag, which is designed to give extra strength to loops when lifting.

UN Certification is a testing certification done by an independent testing facility that puts the FIBC through a set of thorough examinations. A UN test includes strength testing to determine if bags meet their specified qualifications.

This spout construction showcases four petal like structure that works together to hold the spout closed when it is not in use.

The iris closure can be on the top and bottom; that is for discharge and filling. For the bottom these are a safety valve that is ideally suited for choking the necks and also it gives the control to maintain the flow of material and for the top these are used for additional protection after filling.
